Islamabad, Aug 24, (dpa/GNA) – At least six people have been injured in an explosion in the northern Afghan city Mazar-e Sharif, officials said on Wednesday.
The blast occurred in the Balkh Gate area as “the enemy” was transferring explosive devices, provincial police spokesman Mohammad Asif Waziri told dpa, without giving details.
Six wounded people including a five-year-old child have been admitted to the regional hospital, and one person is in critical condition, the head of the hospital, Ghawsuddin Anwari, told dpa.
Since the return of the Taliban to power last year, a series of terrorist attacks have been attributed to the Islamic State (IS) militant group.
Resistance groups like the National Resistance front (NRF) have also carried out attacks against the Taliban.
The Taliban retook power last August, during the chaotic withdrawal of the US-led NATO forces.
