Copenhagen, Aug 29, (dpa/GNA) – Swedish police have made another arrest, in the shooting in a shopping centre in the city of Malmö, earlier this month.
A 40-year-old man was arrested on Saturday, the public prosecutor said in a statement on Monday.
A 15-year-old has already confessed, to killing a 31-year-old man at a shopping centre in mid-August.
According to investigators, it was a targeted killing, that can be attributed to what they call a “criminal milieu.”
In addition, a 39-year-old passer-by was seriously injured in the attack. He is said to have been hit by accident.
The public prosecutor, did not say why the 40-year-old is suspected, and what evidence is available against him.
The suspect is expected to be questioned on Monday, together with his defence attorney.
“On Tuesday I will decide whether I will apply for an arrest warrant against him,” prosecutor Michelle said.
Like other cities in Sweden, Malmö has long struggled with gang crime.
As recently as Friday evening, a woman and her young son were shot at a playground in the town of Eskilstuna, west of Stockholm. According to the investigators, they were probably accidentally caught in the line of fire of rival gangs.
“Society needs to take back control and we need to work together to do that,” said Swedish Prime Minister, Magdalena Andersson.
