Accra, Aug. 30, GNA – The Ablekuma Central Municipal Assembly has organised a cleanup exercise in some communities in the Municipality to ensure good sanitation.

The exercise was in response to a directive from the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Henry Quartey, to all Assemblies in the Region to clean their surroundings.

Madam Mariama Karley Amui, the Municipal Chief Executive, stated that the exercise was part of the plan to make Accra the cleanest city.

“Today is a good day for us because, as humans, we are prone to forget things. Therefore, from time to time, we need to remind the public that we must be preserving our environment.”

“The operation clean your frontage campaign, which is part of the Minister’s plan to make Accra the cleanest city in the nation, is why we started this exercise,” she added.

The MCE said the residents had received education on the importance of the exercise and applauded them for the taking part in the exercise.

“I must say that they have really tried their best because they came in their numbers. I think this is because of the initial notice and education we gave them,” she added.

Mr Yakubu Abane Asoke, Assemblyman for Nmenmeete electoral area, expressed gratitude to the Municipal Assembly for providing equipment and logistics for the exercise, saying he was overjoyed.

Madam Janet Tutuwaa, a resident, said the exercise had made the area clean and called for its sustenance.
