Veep mourns the passing of MCE for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai and his driver

Accra, July 13, GNA-Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed sadness over the untimely death of the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, Mr Alfred Amoah and his driver in a fatal accident on Tuesday night.

“Sad to hear the death of Alfred Amoah, MCE for Bibiani-Anwiaso- Bekwai Municipal Assembly, and his driver Samuel Gyasi.

“Both Alfred and Samuel have been dedicated patriots who served with dignity and passion.

“May the souls of our dear brothers rest in perfect peace,” Dr Bawumia wrote on his Facebook page.

According to media report, the MCE and his driver were reportedly travelling in his Nissan Patrol with registration number GN 2060-18 when a trailer with registration number AS 4229-X crashed onto it.

The accident was said to involve multiple vehicles, which reportedly occurred at Apedwa, near Tafo in the Eastern Region on Tuesday night, July 12, 2022.

The Western North Regional Minister, Mr Richard Rocky Joojo Obeng has confirmed the crash in a media interview.

The Regional Minister indicated that the MCE was in Accra for an official meeting and left his company around 1600 hours to his base in Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai.

Reports say government officials, including ministers and deputies, metropolitan, municipal and district chief executives and other government appointees have been attending a five-day retreat in Accra to discuss the national economy and to take stock of the programmes being implemented.

Social media accounts from the accident scene suggested that the MCE and his driver may have died on the spot.
