Accra, July 19, GNA—a total of Fifty-one business men and women from Turkey will attend the Eighth World Co-operation Industries’ (WCI) International Business Forum in Accra, to establish business partnerships with their Ghanaian counterparts.
The forum will come off at the Alisa Hotel, North Ridge, Accra, from Thursday, July 21 to Friday, July 22, 2022, to also develop the trade potential of businesspeople and middle-class entrepreneurs between Africa and Turkey.
More than 100 participants from Ghana, Togo, Cote d’Ivoire and Benin are expected to attend the meeting.
Addressing journalists at a media briefing in Accra on Tuesday, Mr Utku Bengisu, the Chief Executive Officer of WCI and Convenor of the Forum, said the meeting would provide an opportunity for Ghanaian importers, traders and entrepreneurs to meet manufacturers and exporters from all sectors in Turkey for potential partnerships.
The two-day forum will enable Turkish manufacturers and exporters to introduce their technologies, share business ideas and experiences with their African partners including product presentations and information panels, as well as business-to-business meetings, Mr Bengisu stated.
There will be opportunities for partnerships in business areas such as building construction, furniture decoration, agriculture, consumer goods, cosmetic hygiene, mining, medical health, energy, textile and household kitchenware, Mr Bengisu explained.
The Convenor of the Forum noted that Turkey was among the top 20 economies in the world, with about four million businesses and export rate worth $225 billion in 2021.
Turkish businesses have also invested more than seven billion dollars in Africa with embassies in 44 out of 54 African countries promoting bilateral and multilateral trade.
Mr Bengisu observed that Turkey is strategically located and a logistic point in the world closer to both Africa and Europe, therefore it had become a centre for many businesses and traders to route their products for onward export to other counties across the world.
Turkey is one of the growing economies in the world with a population of 85 million, with 43 ports, over 101,000 exporter companies and 366 organised industrial zones and 18 free zones.
The WCI International Business Forum has become an annual event since 2017, promoting cooperation and partnerships between Turkish businessmen and women and their African counterparts.
