Tamale, July 22, GNA – Mr Sule Salifu, Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive has advised chiefs and citizens to protect public lands to promote the country’s development.
He said it was indiscipline on the parts of certain individuals to encroach on government lands, meant for the nation’s development.
Mr Salifu gave the advice when he visited Naa Mohammed Abdulai, the Chief of Bamvim in Tamale.
He said any parcel of land within government-acquired areas under any chief in the Northern Region must be protected and noted that government-acquired lands, most often were earmarked for development projects such as schools, hospitals, and markets among others.
He stated that it was necessary for the chiefs to protect government lands instead of allowing individuals to settle on them.
Naa Abdulai for his part promised to protect government lands or property in his area.
