Kwadaso (Ash), July 26, GNA – The city of Neu-Isenberg in Germany has released an amount of GHC1.35 million to the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly (KdMA) in the Ashanti Region to support the implementation of various developmental projects in the municipality.
The funds, provided by the city through the Corona Solidarity package under the ‘Municipal Climate Partnership’, would among other things, support the provision of a total of 700-foot pressed hand washing systems to be installed in public facilities such as schools and hospitals.
Additionally, 15,000 tree seedlings would be planted within the municipality by the end of 2022.
Already, three solar powered boreholes have been constructed as part of the programme to support the Edwenease Rehabilitation Centre, Denkyemouso community and the Methodist Technical Institute at Kwadaso.
Mr Richmond Agyenim Boateng, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwadaso, made this known at the first ordinary meeting of the third session of the second assembly at Kwadaso, in Kumasi.
The Municipal Climate Partnership programme is an agreement between Neu-Isenburg and Kwadaso Municipal Assembly with support from Engagement Global to control the harmful effects of climate change in Kwadaso and its environs.
According to the MCE, the programme would also provide assistance for the installation of solar systems and the promotion of sustainable waste management.
He said plans were underway to support public schools and institutions within the Municipality with solar energy to help cut down on electricity cost.
Mr Agyenim Boateng assured that the Assembly would continue to identify relevant partnerships to ensure rapid growth and development of the Municipality.
