Gbestile Mantse calls for peaceful 2022 Kpone Homowo festival

Kpone (Near Tema), July 24, GNA – Nii Teye Kojo Amankwa Sune I, Gbetsile Mantse, and a divisional chief of the Kpone Traditional Area, has called for peace to prevail ahead of the 2022 Homowo Festival celebrations in Kpone.

Nii Amankwa Sune I made the remarks in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Kpone and appealed to any aggrieved youth group or individuals to use the right channel to draw the attention of the traditional authorities so their grievances could be amicably addressed.

He noted that customs and traditions were sacred, and the traditional authorities would not do anything to desecrate the laid down customs and traditions which usually precede the Homowo festivals.

According to the Gbetsile overlord, there are some challenges that needed to be addressed, assuring residents that the Traditional Council would ensure such lapses were dealt with as soon as possible adding that all the customs and traditions would be observed in the next traditional calendar year.

The Gbetsile chief’s response comes as a result of a threat issued by some youth group in Kpone to prevent the Kpone Traditional Council from imposing the annual ban on noise making which precedes the Homowo celebrations.

He added that Kpone-Katamanso was lagging as far as development was concerned, saying all efforts should be tilted towards building and making Kpone-Katamanso a better place for all.

Some youth groups in Kpone claimed that the Kpone Traditional Council would not perform the ‘Sei Faa Yaa’ customs and that necessitated the threat issued by the youth group to also prevent the traditional council to implement the annual ban on noise making within the traditional area this year the Ghana News agency has gathered.
