Ashantigold, Inter Allies lose demotion appeal, set to play in Division Two

Accra, July 15, GNA – The Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has endorsed sanctions imposed on Ashantigold, Inter Allies by the Disciplinary Committee.

The two aforementioned clubs were found guilty of match-fixing in the final game of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) and were subsequently demoted to the third tier of Ghana’s football.

The “Miners”, after the decision, filed a Notice of Appeal against the Decision to the GFA Appeals Committee, likewise the Inter Allies who were not happy with the decision.

“The Disciplinary Committee was right in imposing different categories of sanctions on the club, players, and officers. The Committee has explained the reasons for the sanctions, and we do not intend to vary any.

“In the circumstances, we dismiss the appeal filed by AshantiGold SC, Inter Allies FC, Dr. Kwaku Frimpong, Mr Emmanuel Frimpong, and all other players and officers of the two clubs. We endorse all sanctions imposed by the Disciplinary Committee on the clubs, players, and officers,” excerpts of the Appeals Committee ruling said.

In other related developments, GFA have scheduled the next ordinary congress for Thursday, August 18, ahead of the start of the 2022/23 football season.
