Doha, Qatar, June 14, GNA – With barely four months until the commencement of the 2022 Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) World Cup in Qatar, the world waits with bated breath for what the tiny wealthy nation has to offer.
Many were those who doubted the ability of Qatar to host a successful world cup citing the hot climatic conditions, tiny nature, and limited infrastructure, but 15 years down the lane, Qatar is ready to prove the doubters and critics wrong.
Over the years, they have built top of the range and magnificent sporting facilities and crowned it with the first ever condition at the facilities to ease apprehensions over the weather conditions in the country.
One of such magnificent facilities is the Lusail Stadium on the outskirts of Doha, that would host the finalists on December 18, in the world cup.
The Lusail Stadium which would host ten matches, including the finals of the competition, is an 86,000-seater stadium, with an operational staff of 15,000.
Effectively, the stadium would be hosting a little over 100,000 people which would include officials, fans, players, security men and women, stewards and other operation staff.
Construction started five years ago, and was completed in December 2021, with a little over 10,000 workers, and comes with a premium viewing experience.
No matter your position in the stands, fans will have a perfect view of events on the field of play.
According to Mr Tamim El Abed the Project Manager, the facility was a complex and advanced infrastructure with advanced cooling systems.
“This is purely a football stadium and nothing obstructs viewing and that is what we meant by premium viewing experience.
“This facility was carefully thought out and constructed. We have conducted all the needed tests and I am convinced we would provide fans with a lifetime experience,” Mr. El Abed stated.
The pitch, the main point of action, was made with one of the best technologies in the world, as every bit of the grass is well measured and accurate to prevent injuries and ensure free flow of football.
There is a vacuum system that absorbs water from the field anytime it rains.
Cooling system at the Lusail Stadium
A cooling system within a sports stadium until recently sounded weird and unimaginable, but this would be possible at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
All the stadiums, including Lusail Stadium, has a perfect cooling system that would cater for the high climatic conditions in Qatar, which could go as high as 49 degrees.
However, this is not expected in November and December during the world cup, but the organisers have made adequate provisions to take care of the heat.
All the stadiums are fitted with state-of-the-art cooling systems that provide adequate cooling during matches.
According to Dr. Saud Abdul Ghani – the brain behind the stadium cooling system, each seat at the stadium has a cooling system beneath which releases cooling whilst the match is on.
“It is an adjustable system that responds to how hot the stadium would be when 100,000 people fill the stadium”.
Dr. Ghani said “this is not an invention, it is an innovation”, and we are determined to make fans more comfortable throughout the competition.
If you have ever had doubts about the ability of Qatar to host the world, then you may have to rewrite your scripts, because players, fans, officials and all who throng the country for the world cup would be given an amazing experience.
They have every reason to tag the World Cup an “Amazing World Cup”.
