NPP Vetting: General Secretary aspirants confident of positive outcomes

Accra, June 21, GNA – Aspirants for the General Secretary position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have expressed confidence of sailing through the vetting processes for the upcoming National Executives Elections.

Mr Justin Frimpong Kodua, an Aspirant in an interview with the media after his vetting said: ” l know the vetting Committee was impressed with my delivery.”

He said the vetting was smooth and urged the leadership of the Party to make available the album of all delegates to the aspirants to peruse before the elections.

That, he stated, was critical and important for free and transparent elections.

“The assurance I got from the Committee was positive. There was a commitment that they will make the album available on June 29, 2022,” he said.

He said he made his views known about external branches, stressing ” we need to know the number of delegates and those transferring their proxy to others to vote to ensure transparency.”

The ultimate vision of the Party, he stated, was to make history by being the first political party in the country to win elections for three consecutive terms.

“At the end of the exercise, the Party will have a General Secretary who is accessible to the rank and file of the Party and give hope to the teeming youth of the country,” he said, pledging to continue to support the Party if the ‘unexpected’ happened that he lost the election.

He commended the Vetting Committee for being fair and firm, describing the process as fruitful.

Mr Frederick Opare Ansah, another aspirant, said the vetting exercise was smooth and that he was hopeful of qualifying to contest the position of the General Secretary of the Party.

Mr Charles O. Bissue, also said irrespective of the outcome of the elections, the unity of the Party was crucial to its victory in 2024.

The aspirants for the General Secretary positions are: incumbent John Boadu, Justin Kodua Frimpong, Musah Iddrisu Superior, Frederick Opare Ansah, Charles O. Bissue and Ramseyer Agyemang-Prempeh.

The Vetting Committee is expected to release its report on Wednesday, June 22, 2022.

The National Appeals Committee will sit on cases concerning disqualification between June 24 and June 25, 2022.
