Nostalgic football moments as match between Borussia Dortmund Legends and African Giants ends in a draw
Accra, June 12, GNA-Legends of the German Club, Borussia Dortmund, played out a 2-2 draw against their African Giants counterparts in an exhibition game played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.

The African giants, which had the likes of Samuel Kuffour, Charles Akonnor, Asamoah Gyan, Emmanuel Adebayor, Charles Taylor, Stephen Appiah, Laryea Kingston, among many other legends, thrilled fans with some amazing football skills.

The Borussia Dortmund side also featured the likes of Roman Weidenfeller, Dede, Jan Koller, and Kevin Großkreutz who also put on a good show for the spectators.

Former Trabzonspor player Augustine Arhinful opened the scoring for the African Giants in the 16th minute after a superb pass from former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah.

Former Egyptian international Mohanned Zidan struck parity for the Borussia Dortmund Legends after he struck the ball past former Hearts goalkeeper Sammy Adjei in the late stages of the first half.

Dortmund star Kevin Grobkreutz put his side in the lead on the hour mark with a superb curler, with former Hearts goalkeeper Sammy Adjei unable to keep out the strike.

The African Giants created lots of chances as they sought to level the scores, but the Borussia Dortmund Legends stood firm in defence, denying their opponents.

But the African Giants did get the equalizer through Ghana’s Prince of Goals, Prince Tagoe in the 80th minute after a delightful pass from Kwame Ayew.

The highly entertaining game did end with no winner, but the encounter was indeed thrilling to watch with the passionate fans cheering on some of the best football talents to ever grace the sport.

The squad of BVB greats arrived in Accra last Wednesday, having undertaken a series of programmes including a Youth Development Coaching Clinic, a visit to the children’s home, and a Gala Dinner, and climaxed it with a football exhibition against the African giants.
