Nneka Youth Foundation, Village Bicycle project support school children

Ve-Agbome (V/R), June 14, GNA – More than 100 school children from 24 communities in the Afadjato South District have received bicycles from the Nneka Youth Foundation to mark the International Children’s Day, which was marked on June 12th.

The donation was in partnership with the Village Bicycle Project, an organisation that has collaborated with Nneka Youth Foundation since 2014 to support hundreds of children, who walked long distances to school daily.

Mrs Cecilia Fiaka, the Chief Executive Officer of the Nneka Youth Foundation, a youth development and women empowerment not-for-profit organisation, said the bicycle project was to reduce the stress and the challenges the school children faced daily as they commuted to school.

She noted that the project would be extended to other rural communities across the region.

Mr Ebenezer Somiah, the Manager of the Village Bicycle Project, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said the project was focused on reaching out to as many rural communities as possible, especially school children, health workers and teachers, as a contribution to the development of the country.
