Four Communities in Bibiani Municipality to get mechanised boreholes

Bibiani (WN/R), June 23, GNA – The Public Utility and Regulatory Commission (PURC) has approved the construction of four mechanised boreholes in four communities within the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality.

This was after a delegation from the PURC visited the area to assess the water situation in the area, following requests by the Member of Parliament (MP), Mr Alfred Obeng-Boateng to support the Municipality with safe and potable water.

The beneficiary communities are Bibiani Old Town, Breman, Anhwiaso and Sefwi Bekwai Senior High School.

The project is expected to commence in September this year.

Mr Daniel Allan, the leader of the PURC delegation, encouraged Ghanaians to develop the habit of harvesting rainwater to augment the water supply from the Ghana Water Company Ltd and the Community Water and Sanitation Agency.

He admonished the beneficiary communities to form committees to oversee the projects to ensure proper maintenance.

The delegation visited various communities in the municipality to pick GPS points and also identify the spots for the projects.

Mr Alfred Obeng-Boateng has singlehandedly financed the construction of about 15 mechanized boreholes for various communities in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai constituency.

The beneficiary communities of the new projects expressed their gratitude to the MP and the NPP government.

The Government of Ghana is committed to the supply and delivery of potable water to both urban and rural communities, he said.
