Takoradi, June 11, GNA – Mr John Agyare, the Head of the Ahanta West Municipal Security Council, has called for calm in the Egyambra community following recent disturbances in the community.
The plea came after a section of the community reportedly set the vehicle of the Chief of the Area, Nana Blaychie ablaze in what is suspected to be a chieftaincy disturbance.
So far, eight persons have been arrested by the Municipal Police Command to assist with investigations.
Mr Ngorosra Yankey, a community member, told the GNA that another family who had disregarded the leadership of the current chief allegedly attempted to install a new chief, which attracted the anger of the community to cause the dastardly act.
A unit committee member, Augustine Dua, said, “the community is empty now, we are pleading with the Inspector General of Police to intervene”.
