Accra, May 9, GNA – The Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopon Constituency, Madam Rita Odoley Sowah has urged women, especially young mothers to acquire additional skills to complement their basic source of income.
She said the changing times had brought to the fore importance of acquiring additional skills to support oneself and their families.
Madam Sowah organized an event for women in her constituency to celebrate Mothers’ Day and pointed out that the importance of having additional life skills as a woman could not be overemphasized.
She said the acquisition of additional skills by women would not only enable them support their families but promote the transfer of knowledge to their children and equip them with the requisite skills that would arouse their interest in becoming successful entrepreneurs.
She said time had proven that the reliance on one source of income in a family was not the best
“When you acquire additional skills that generate extra income, meeting the needs of your family and especially your children become an easy thing to do,” she said.
She added that additional skills do not only result in a high productivity rate but affect economic growth.
The event which was held at the La Presbyterian Senior High School brought together women of all ages who were treated to good music, food and drinks. The MP also presented wax prints to beneficiaries.
The women expressed their appreciation for the gesture.
