Accra, May 29, GNA – Micheal Enu’s late second half strike secured a point for Bibiani Gold Stars, as they held Legon Cities to a 1-1 draw in a match-week 31 encounter of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League played at the El-Wak Sports Stadium.
Substitute Augustine Donsu’s put the home side ahead in the 89th minute in controversial circumstances, which halted the game for about five minutes, but the away side pulled parity with virtually the last kick of the game.
The spoils shared ensured Legon Cities stayed around mid-table with Gold Stars gradually pushing towards safety with three matches to end the season.
It was a dorminant start from the home side in the opening 20 minutes of the game as they made numerous attacking strides in the goal area of the away side.
Despite their dominance Legon Cities barely tested Bibiani Gold Stars goalkeeper Yaw Ansah Fufro, with most of their attempts going wayward.
Captain Jonah Attuquaye came close past the half hour mark, with a well taken free kick which missed by a whisker.
Bibiani Gold Stars seemed to have deployed a defensive strategy to keep their opponent at bay in the first half, which effectively worked for them as the first half ended scoreless.
The “Royals” started the second half on the front foot as they searched for the opener.
Legon Cities playmaker Attuquaye who was the most lively player in the game, came close with a quarter of the game left, but his effort could only find the side net.
Substitute Augustine Donsu’s with virtually his first touch of the game pounced on a ball, after some poor goalkeeping by Yaw Ansah, to put the home side the lead.
But the away side did pull parity through Michael Enu who tapped in from close range to secure crucial point.
