Zelensky vows those responsible for acts of war will be punished

Moscow, Mar. 15, (dpa/GNA) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has vowed that those responsible for serious acts of war in his country will be held accountable.

“We are working with our partners on new punitive measures against the Russian state,” Zelensky said in a video message.

“Everyone responsible for the war. Anyone responsible for destroying democracy. Anyone responsible for repression against people,” he said.

The Russian military is definitely responsible for war crimes, for a “deliberately created humanitarian catastrophe” in Ukrainian cities, Zelensky said in the clip, which shows him in military gear in the presidential office in Kiev.

Zelensky said Russia is beginning to realize that it will not achieve anything by going to war. “They didn’t expect such resistance. They believed their propaganda, which has been lying about us for decades.”

He confirmed that negotiations between Ukrainian and Russian representatives are to resume on Tuesday.
