Accra, March 1, GNA- Fabulous Ladies’ forward, Princess Owusu, is leading the top goal scorer race with seven goals ahead of the second round of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) which resumes this weekend.
Owusu, who has been superb in the first round after nine matches, has beaten the likes of Dreamz Ladies’ Stella Nyamekye and Ashtown Ladies’ Fidous Yakubu to lead the race.
The forward, in the first round, was able to bag seven goals in four successive matches after nine weeks of play.
Princess Owusu after three weeks of going blank on the score chart was able to find her way out in match week four as she scored the only goal for her side, in the 90th minute in Fabulous Ladies’ 1-3 defeat to Prisons Ladies.
The forward again found the net and scored the winning goal for Fabulous Ladies in their match-week five encounters against Supreme Ladies.
She managed to grab all three points for Fabulous Ladies in the dying minutes of the game, defeating Supreme Ladies 2-1.
Princess Owusu in the matchday six encounters with Northern Zone leaders, Ampem Darkoa, could not wait to do her magic in the 90th minute as she gave her side the lead in the fifth minute of the game.
The forward scored a brace in that match as Fabulous Ladies beat Ampem Darkoa 2-1.
She was adjudged the NASCO player of the match.
She kept on improving game after game as she scored a hat trick to help Fabulous Ladies defeat FC Savannah 3-1 in their matchday seven clash.
She was again named as the NASCO player of the match for the second consecutive time.
The striker has played a major role in Coach Prince Acheampong’s success in the WPL so far with seven goals to her credit.
Princess Owusu having been named the NASCO player of the match award twice, was nominated for the NASCO Player of the month for the January award.
Fabulous Ladies finished the first round of the Women’s Premier League third in the northern zone grabbing 17 points.
