Washington, March 8, (dpa/GNA) – Russian President, Vladimir Putin, will never emerge victorious from his invasion of Ukraine, US President Joe Biden promised in a speech at the White House.
He may be able to take a city, but he will never be able to hold the country, Biden said, adding that Ukrainians would defend their freedom, their democracy and their lives and would not simply let Putin take what he wanted.
Biden said Russia would emerge from the war weaker, while the rest of the world would be stronger.
The war had already caused enormous suffering and unnecessary loss of life, Biden said, adding that Putin seemed determined to continue on his murderous path – whatever the cost.
