Accra, March 11, GNA — The Nathaniel Pecku Education Foundation (NPEF) is supporting two projects to deepen the training and practice of Career Guidance and Counselling Psychology Education in Ghana.
The first project involves therapy services being provided to an abused girl by Reverend Albright Asiwome Banibensu, a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) student.
The second project is a trauma counselling intervention for the affected persons of the Buduburam apartment fire.
This is being done by the Department of Counselling Psychology, University of Education, Winneba.
The trauma counselling is a new course mounted by the Department of Counselling Psychology to prepare a new crop of professionals who would be adequately prepared to handle traumatic occurrences.
This is being done by the students led by Dr Mrs Nyuiemedi Agordzo Edoh-Torgah, the Lecturer of the Trauma and Crisis Counselling course.
The NPEF is purposed to support educational programmes with emphasis on Career Guidance and Counselling.
It is named after Professor Nathaniel Kofi Pecku, a retired educationist and a psychologist in the Career Guidance and Counselling specialty.
He is among pioneers of this field and has trained and mentored many.
Prof. Pecku was a Lecturer at the University of Cape Coast for many years and later became the first principal of the then University College of Education, Winneba.
He was also the first Principal of the Methodist University College, Ghana.
