Tehran, Mar. 8, (dpa/GNA) – Iran has reported another successful satellite launch.
According to the ISNA news agency, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) on Tuesday launched the Noor-2 research satellite into orbit at an altitude of 500 kilometres.
The IRGC will announce more details about the recent satellite launch from the Shahrud desert site in north-eastern Iran in the next few hours, the ISNA report said.
Iranian satellites are meant to provide data on weather, natural disasters and agriculture and do not pursue military objectives, so therefore their use is in line with international regulations, Tehran said.
The US and Israel, however, are critical of the Iranian satellite programme. They fear that Iran could use space technology for military purposes.
