Accra, March 5, GNA — The Ghana Police has put stringent measures in place to provide security coverage for this year’s 65th Independence Day Anniversary Parade slated for Sunday, March 6, 2022, at the Cape Coast Stadium and throughout the country.
A statement signed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kwesi Ofori, Director-General, Public Affairs, and copied the Ghana News Agency said to ensure an incident-free celebration, the Police were working in collaboration with other security services and would deploy personnel in and around all celebration grounds across the country.
It said as part of the arrangements, there would be an additional deployment of Highway and Motorbike Patrols to augment the existing security deployment on all roads within the country.
The statement said those arrangements had been networked and dovetailed into all police Regional, Divisional and Districts to ensure a holistic security strategy for a peaceful anniversary celebration at all levels.
It said at Cape-Coast, where the national event would be held, the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) had made adequate provisions to ensure effective traffic management.
The statement appealed to all celebrants and the public to obey the rules and regulations put in place for the anniversary parade.
It also entreated everyone to consider their personal security as a guiding principle for the celebrations.
The statement urged members of the public to be on the lookout for the safety of one another and draw the attention of the police to anything suspicious for immediate intervention.
“We wish all Ghanaians a Happy Independence Anniversary,” it added.
