Accra, March 11, GNA- Mr Stephen Jalulah, the Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways, has charged contractors working on various roads in the country to complete works on schedule.
He particularly charged the contractor on the School Junction to Accra-Tema motorway road close to East Legon in Accra to speed the completion of the road for public use.
He said the road must be ready before next year’s All African Games to be hosted in Ghana in August 2023.
“Due to the fact that the games will commence in August 2023, we have a contract at a duration of 12 months, where the contractor has been charged to possibly work day and night to be able to complete on schedule. We expect the road to be completed by March next year, “he said.
He urged them to work day and night to be able to complete the project on time.
The inspection of the school junction to motorway road was carried out by Mr Kwasi Amoako-Attah and officials from the Ministry of Roads and Highways, Ghana Highways Authority and Department of Urban Roads in Accra.
The team also inspected works on the Adjiringanor overpass, Boundary Road extension and the Spintex road/Flower Pot interchange, all critical interventions to ease traffic in that enclave.
The road from School junction to motorway is approximately 6km and forms part of the larger one which is from Awoshie through to Pokuase, to Kwabenya, to Agboba and to school junction and the Accra- Tema motorway, all about 33km.
“The scope of work generally includes the clearing of the place, replacement of gravel material which do not look too suitable, preparation of drains and also the dual carriage with asphalt overlay,” he said.
Mr Jalulah said with the help of the Ministry and Government at large, compensations will be given to property owners whose properties were involved in the clearance and also the construction where necessary.
