Accra, March 24, GNA – appsNmobile Solutions, a licensed payment solutions provider and the Accra Diamond Lions Club have donated to the Childhood Cancer Unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
The initiative by the Accra Diamonds Lions Club was supported by appsNmobile with the provision of consumables and equipment to support the Childhood Cancer Unit.
It was in line with efforts to increase support for the treatment of childhood cancer in the country.
The items worth GHC5,120.00 included detergents, diapers, gloves, cotton, paper towels and medical equipment such as thermometers, Blood Pressure Monitors and a Nebuliser.
Childhood Cancer is a leading cause of death for children and adolescents around the world. The Lions Club international has contributed substantially to the management of cancer over the years.
Approximately, 300,000 children aged 0 to 19 years old are diagnosed with cancer each year.
Mr Richard Bansah, Chief Executive Officer, appsNmobile Solutions, said, generally, Childhood Cancer could not be prevented or screened which required that children suffering from the disease received support especially from corporate organisations.
He assured of the Company’s continued support to the Childhood Cancer Unit and patients suffering the condition.
Lion Sam Jonathan, Childhood Cancer Committee Chairperson, making the donation on behalf of the President of the Accra Diamond Lions Club, further assured the Unit of the continuous support as well as education in helping families and children affected by childhood cancer.
Dr Lily Gloria Tagoe, Paediatian at the Hospital and Madam Leticia Amengor, Matron of the Unit, who both received the items, expressed appreciation to the appsNmobile and the Accra Diamond Lions Club for the gesture.
