Prampram, Feb. 17, GNA – The Ningo-Prampram District of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) exceeded its 2021 planned activities as more institutions, organised groups and civil society organisations engaged the office for education on national issues.
Mr Oppong Mensah, NCCE Ningo-Prampram District Director, told the Ghana News Agency that in 2021 a target of 622 planned activities was set but jumped to 649 at the end of the year.
Mr Mensah said the NCCE was able to reach out to 32,406 people, comprising 14,984 males and 17,422 females, who belonged to identifiable groups such as faith-based organisations, community-based groups, women groups and persons living with disabilities, among others.
He noted that during the period, the Commission undertook extensive education on COVID-19 protocols and vaccination, child protection issues, duties of Members of Parliament, and the population and housing census.
Other principles and objectives of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, tolerance, national cohesion, patriotism, women participation and inclusiveness, violence extremism anti-corruption rule of law and accountability programme (ARAP), and SIM card re-registration, among others.
He indicated that 15 educational programmes for adults were carried out on the duties of Members of Parliament while 46 activities were conducted on child protection.
He said 19 educational activities on the 2021 population and housing census were carried out by the NCCE in the Ningo-Prampram district while nine on the principles and objectives of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana were conducted.
According to him, the district office also conducted 12 activities on duties of a citizen, 19 on tolerance and national cohesion, 14 on patriotism, and 10 on women participation and inclusiveness respectively.
The office in 2021 engaged 1,020 persons in 44 activities on violent extremism and had one youth workshop on secessionist and violent extremism.
