Dambai (O/R) Feb 21, GNA – The Municipal Fire Commander for Krachi East, Assistant Divisional Officer I, Victor kodzo Kudoadzi, says the service is intensifying fire safety sensitisation to enforce safety compliance in the Krachi East Municipality.
He said the various fuel stations, Clinics, hotels and tertiary institutions as part of efforts to increase awareness on fire safety.
He said the exercise had become necessary due to the current rampant fire outbreaks in some parts of the country and negligence as well as non-compliance on the part of facility owners.
Mr Kudoadzi said this during a fire training workshop organized for staff and students of Dambai College of Education in Dambai.
He said educating and training of pump attendants, students and the public at large would go a long way to further reduce fire outbreaks in the Krachi East Municipality since using extinguishers to stop fires at their initial stages of occurrence would be easier.
He appealed to the general public to always embrace fire safety at their shops, homes, workplaces, mosques, schools, hospitals, and churches to protect lives and property through acquisition and installation of early fire warning alarms systems, smoke detectors and basic fire-fighting equipment such as extinguishers by fire service.
The Fire Commander also uses the occasion to advise participants to ensure that they have acquired certificates to protect their facilities to protect public facilities and business entities.
He asked the public not to hesitate to call the fire service in the likely event of fires and accidents for quick response since the fire service is combat ready to solve fire related issues without delay.
