Accra, Jan. 2, GNA – Faith Ladies’ Adjoa Donkor’s goal in the 17th minute earned her side a point when they played Berry Ladies in match-day three of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) at the Madina Astroturf in Accra.
The game ended 1-1 after regulation time.
Sophaiah Mabena Agyaakwa shot her side ahead in the first minute but were unlucky when Donkor pulled parity for the visitors 16 minutes after.
The equalizer boosted Faith Ladies’ confidence and continued the match with determination to grab full points.
With Faith Ladies dominating play and mounting pressure on Berry Ladies’ defense, Gifty Dwamena Akomabea came close to hitting the back of the goalpost but her strike hit the woodwork.
Faith Ladies were presented with the most goal scoring opportunities but failed to utilize them to end the first half one all.
From recess, the pressure on Berry ladies did not end.
Dwamena Akomabea on the right flank maneuvered her way through the penalty area to grab Faith’s second but she missed the goal post by inches to receive thunderous applause from the spectators for her efforts.
The draw puts Faith Ladies on five points whereas Berry Ladies on four after three games.
At the end of the game, Adwoa Donkor was named the NASCO best player of the match.
Fabulous ladies would clash Northern Ladies on Sunday in Kumasi whilst Pearlpia take on Prisons Ladies on Monday, January 3.
