Ho, Jan. 7, GNA – The Volta Regional Command of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has held its thanksgiving service in appreciation of God’s protection and guidance throughout 2021.
It was on the theme: “Let us give thanks to the Lord,” and attended by sister security services including the Ghana Armed Forces, Police, Fire, and Prisons services.
Deputy Commissioner of Immigration (DCI) Peter Claver Nantuo, the Volta Regional Commander, in a speech read on his behalf, commended the Comptroller General of Immigration and the entire management for their excellent leadership and support.
He said their excellent performance had led to efficient border management as well as improvement in the operational and administrative duties of the Regional Office.
DCI Nantuo expressed appreciation to the officers in the region for their dedication, vigilance and hard work and for exhibiting high level of professionalism in the discharge of their duties, urging them to give of their best in the New Year.
He entreated them to support the vision of the Comptroller General in transforming the GIS into a world class service and to enforce government’s directives on the closure of the borders and guard all unapproved entry points.
Deputy Superintendent of Immigration (DSI) Reverend Daniel Nyampong Okantey, the Chaplain of the Service,
said though the year under review was challenging for personnel in their line of duty, the Lord had been gracious to them and brought them safely into the New Year.
“God deserves the glory and adoration for all that He has done for us in 2021. Believers who neglect thanksgiving are ……eventually plunged into darkness and ultimate denial of the Almighty God….,” he said.
The thanksgiving service was characterised by praises, singing and dancing to the glory of God for His mercies, love and favour.
There were intercessory prayers for the leadership of the nation; the President and his Vice, Parliament, the Judiciary and the entire citizenry.
