Stay off Ningo-Prampram Land and Chieftaincy disputes—DCE cautions journalists

Prampram (Near Tema), Jan. 20, GNA – Mr. Al-Latif Tetteh Amanor, the District Chief Executive (DCE) Ningo-Prampram District Assembly (NiPDA) in the Greater Accra Region has appealed to Journalists to be circumspect on reportage of chieftaincy issues within the District.

Speaking at a community engagement organized by the Ningo-Prampram District Assembly in Prampram ahead of the commencement of the ‘Operation Clean Your Frontage’ programme, the DCE urged Journalists to abstain from reporting on the Chieftaincy issues and the various land litigation in the district.

Mr. Amanor expressed concern about a section of the media who were interested in publishing sensational stories from the district even when such stories did not exist.

He noted that such reports and publications had the tendency to create unnecessary divisions amongst the various families within the district.

He explained that though there were some chieftaincy and land issues among some families in the district, Journalists or media personnel must not muddy the waters or add fuel to the already burning fire through unguarded reportage.

The DCE encouraged journalists to report on the many developmental projects ongoing in the district, “Journalists must help promote and project the district positively in the local and international market to attract investors and not to scare them away with unproductive reportage”.

The Ningo-Prampram District Chief Executive assured the residents that he would do all he could to resolve the various Chieftaincy and Land issues in the district with a call on the residents to choose peace over violence.
