Regional Chief Imams pay courtesy call on National Chief Imam

Accra, Jan 20, GNA – The Conference of Regional Chief Imams of Ghana Wednesday paid a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr Usumanu Nuhu Sharubutu.

The meeting was to officially introduce the Group to the Chief Imam.

Ustaz Ahmed Seidu, the Executive Director of the Conference, said the Organisation’s aim was to promote peace in the regions, districts and at the community levels to ensure that a stable and united Muslim ummah was achieved.

He said the Conference would this year establish District and Regional Consultative Councils (Shura Council).

The Shura Council, made up of representatives of various Muslim bodies, would put in place development structures towards the construction of schools and hospitals.

There would also be economic empowerment programmes for all Imams across the 16 regions to build their capacities for development.

The National Chief Imam, also the Chief Patron and Chairman of Board of Trustees of the Conference, commended the Imams for the foresight to foster unity among the Muslim leadership.
