Office of Senior Presidential Advisor commends Ghana News Agency

Tema, Jan. 5, GNA-Officials from the Office of the Senior Presidential Advisor, Mr Yaw Osafo Marfo have commended the Ghana News Agency Tema Regional Office for its news initiative platforms aimed towards media inclusiveness for national development.

Mr. Habibu Adam, a Senior Economist, and Dr. Eric Yeboah, a Senior Research Fellow all at the office of the Senior Presidential Advisor gave the commendation after participating in the GNA-Tema Industrial News Hub Boardroom Dialogue platform.

It serves as an innovative weekly media think-tank platform for state and non-state and commercial operators to communicate to the world on topical issues of national interest.

Dr Yeboah who is also the Secretary of the Ghana Beyond Aid Committee, which operates under the Office of the Senior Presidential Advisor, said Tema GNA had created an uncommon platform for stakeholders to contribute to nation-building.

He said, “I applaud the Tema-GNA for creating this huge progressive platform for stakeholders to speak on topical issues of national interest. This is a visionary platform which would enhance the achievement of the purpose of the fourth estate of the realm at the grassroots”.

He noted that the contribution to national development was a shared responsibility hence every individual had a major role to play, “Ghana News Agency is setting a new path for media operations”.

On his part Mr Adam also described the GNA-Tema Industrial News Hub Boardroom Dialogue platform as a novelty that must be organized across the country for the state and non-state actors to have a non-partisan platform to contribute to national development.

He said state institutions must take the bold initiative to support the government’s effort at re-building the nation irrespective of which political party was in government, “public and civil servants especially who serve as technocrats have a major role to play and provide technical direction”.

Mr Adam said the GNA-Tema platform had opened doors for passionate discussion of sensitive issues without political lenses, “this is what Ghana needs to move forward”.

Mr Francis Ameyibor, GNA Tema Regional Manager explained that the Industrial News Hub Boardroom Dialogue platform formed part of a broader objective of the Agency towards revamping its operations.

He said the agency had embarked on a process of revamping its newsgathering operations, towards the production of digital news content and the acquisition of modern digital equipment to aid speedy transmission of stories from the field.
