Nima Violence: Police restore calm

Accra, Jan.19, GNA—The Ghana Police Service on Tuesday contained some violent engagements at Nima and subsequently restored calm.

A news brief from the Police said “personnel strongly intervened in the Nima violence and brought the situation under control.”

It said meanwhile, the suspected criminals were being pursued to face justice.

The brief said full details would be provided at an opportune time.

A video released on the Ghana Police Service official Facebook page showed some men wielding machetes moving along a street in Nima chasing after another group of people.

Gun shots were also heard in the video, with one man appearing to be firing a gun.

In a another video circulating on twitter, a young man is seen between two men; one slashed him with a machete whilst the other person on the side of the young man blocked the second attempt by the attacker.
