Kalekope/Axovikope (VR), Jan 1, GNA— A Non-Governmental Organisation, The Sky is My Limit, has donated two mechanised boreholes to Kalekope and Axovikope, farming communities in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta region.
The facilities would supply potable water to about 1,800 inhabitants in the two communities.
Mr Michael Nyahe, Country Director of the NGO, during a short ceremony to commission the facilities, said the boreholes were provided with the help of Mr Brian Mosko, the Director of the NGO, who is a Canadian philanthropist.
He said the NGO aimed to provide potable drinking water to deprived areas, quality healthcare and quality education, among others.
He said the Avenor Traditional Council gave Mr Brian Mosko the title ‘Togbui Agama Dormenyo I’ for his benevolence.
Torgbe Dorglo Anumah VI, the Paramount Chief of Avenor and President of the Avenor Traditional Council, in a speech, appealed to the community members to make the education of their children their ultimate goal “so they can become great leaders in future and by so doing, poverty would be eradicated.”
Torgbe Dorglo Anumah VI, who is spearheading the projects in the Traditional area, with support from Mr Brian Mosko, urged residents to take proper care of the facilities for their benefit.
Mr Daniel Amuzu Kale, Assembly Member for the Area, when contacted, said the facilities in his area was a timely and great relief and joy to the people because of the difficulties they go through in getting water, especially during the dry season.
The facilities bring to 40, the total mechanised boreholes drilled in the Municipality.
