Tema, Jan. 19, GNA – Logos Hope, the world’s largest floating book fair, which operates as part of a Christian outreach, is to berth at Tema Port from January 21 to February 27 at the clinker Ghacem gate to undertake mission work in Ghana.
The overall aim of Logos Hope’s coming to Ghana and mission across the world is to share knowledge, help and offer hope to the world.
“Knowledge can be shared through the ship’s book fair on board while help and hope are shared,” Mr Bernard Modimakwane, a Missionary onboard the ship, said.
Logos Hope is a Christian vessel that is carrying books on board for both adults and children, teaches on morals and values of Christianity to deepen the spiritual lives of born-again Christians.
Speaking at the Ghana News Agency Dialogue, Mr Modimakwane said as part of its activities in Ghana, the team would undertake free-eye screening on January 22nd at the Tema Community Four Assemblies of God church, Ashaiman and Newtown.
He said in collaboration with some local churches, the free eye screening and distribution of eye-glasses would also be conducted at other parts of the country at later date to be announced through the local churches.
He said as part of the activities, they were engaging various communities in the country to take care of their eye problems as well as support them with eye-glasses.
The Missionary said, “The eyes are very important; so we looked at the resources we have and looked at how we can use them to benefit the communities so eye screening and sharing of glasses are what we could do.”
The Reverend Emmanuel Kwesi Ofori, Head Pastor of Central Assemblies of God, Tema Community Four, said the free-eye screening, which forms part of the broad activities of Logos Hope, was to serve as a community outreach programme.
