Rome, Jan 6, (dpa/GNA) – Italian Prime Minister, Mario Draghi, should apologize for the introduction of compulsory coronavirus vaccination for people aged 50 and older, argued a far-right leader on Thursday, as anger bubbled up against health regulations.
Giorgia Meloni, the leader of the radical Fratelli d’Italia (Brothers of Italy), spoke on Thursday of an attack on civil rights.
Draghi’s Cabinet agreed on Wednesday on compulsory vaccination for those 50 or older, including foreigners residing in Italy.
In addition, only people in this age group who have recovered from Covid-19 or are considered fully vaccinated, can be admitted to their workplaces.
Companies are also being urged to allow people to work from home because of the high levels of infection.
On Wednesday, Italy set another record, with just more than 189,000 new infections registered within 24 hours.
