Ibrahim Mahama pledges support for Appiatse community

Bogoso (W/R), Jan. 25, GNA – The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Engineers and Planners and Dzata Cement, Mr Ibrahim Mahama, has pledged support for the Appiatse community.

Mr Mahama said this when he donated food items worth thousands of cedis to the victims who were displaced following the explosion at Appiatse in the Western Region on Thursday, January 20, 2022.

The items donated include 5,000 (5kg) bags of rice, 5,000 pieces of mackerel and 1,000 gallons of oil.

Mr Daniel Tweneboa, General Manager, Engineers and Planners, Tarkwa Mine, who donated the items on behalf of Mr Mahama, said the contribution was part of the companies corporate social responsibility.

He said the CEO was also prepared to support the government with Dzata Cement during the reconstruction of the Appiatse community.

The Municipal National Disaster Management Organisation Coordinator in charge of Prestea Huni-Valley, Mr Francis Abeiku Yankah, thanked the donor and said the items would help address some needs of the victims.

Meanwhile, the government is putting up some structures and tents to accommodate the over 900 displaced victims who were affected by the explosion.
