Ho, Jan. 6, GNA – The Ho Teaching Hospital (HTH) in the Volta region is attending to only emergency surgeries due to the on-going nationwide strike by the Ghana Association of Certified Registered Anaesthetists.
Mr Amos Dzah, the Public Relations Officer of the Hospital, who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency said all elective surgeries or booked surgeries had been suspended for now.
He said the strike was affecting delivery of such medical services at the facility and hoped that amicable solution would be found to the situation for the anaesthetists to resume work.
The Ghana Association of Registered Anaesthetists on Saturday January 1, this year embarked on a nationwide strike due to what they described as the expiration of their license to operate.
The Association is expected to renew the license with the Medical and Dental Council to make them eligible to operate.
The association, however, said it could not register with a body they had no affiliation with resulting in the ongoing strike.
