Accra, Jan.31, GNA – Government on Monday distributed additional 100 buses and 50 pickups to selected senior high schools (SHSs) and sector agencies to improve transportation of students and teachers.
This brings to 200 buses, 415 pickups and 493 motobikes distributed by the Ministry of Education since 2020 to ease the transportation challenges of the second cycle institutions.
Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the handing-over ceremony at the Accra High School, said the distribution of the vehicles would boost education delivery and encourage school enrolment.

The Vice-President stated that over the past five years, government had increased access to quality education in the country, resulting in 1.2 million student enrolment at the second cycle institutions through the Free Senior High School Policy.
Additionally, government had provided more educational infrastructure such as libraries, dormitories, classroom blocks, administrative blocks and canteens as well as completed many e-blocks started by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Administration.
Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Minister of Education, said the distribution of the buses and pickups was in fulfilment of the promise made by the Akufo-Addo-led Government and that it would enhance the quality, access and relevance of education delivery in the country.
