Ho, Jan. 4, GNA – Deiga Kwadzo Dei XII, Paramount Chief of Peki, has called on Peki citizens to endeavour to pursue excellence in their various chosen fields as individuals and also contribute their quota to the growth of the respective families, clans, towns and Peki.
He also urged them to strive to participate in all government interventions and policies aimed at improving their socio-economic well-being.
Deiga Dei in his New Year message, wished traditional leaders and citizens a prosperous new year, while reminding them that failure on part of citizens to take part in the interventions as well as pursue excellence in their fields, would leave Peki behind.
“For this reason, we as individuals, must take very keen interest in the development of our families, clans, towns and Peki as a whole by participating in all activities such as town hall meetings, communal labours and payment of levies and taxes as and when the need arises.”
He said he was confident that 2022 would be unique, adding that, he was hopeful they shall overcome the numerous challenges and succeed and called on citizens to continue to remember Peki and Ghana in their daily prayers for sustained peace and blessings from God.
Deiga Dei reminded the people of the various Peki State rules and regulations, particularly burial dates as recently circulated and urged family heads, clans and citizens to strictly adhere to it, adding that churches had been informed accordingly.
He was grateful to God for grace, guidance, protection and peace amidst the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic, since their lives had not been the same since the pandemic broke up in Ghana in March 2020 and affected every activity of theirs as individuals, a families, clan and community.
Deiga Dei noted that notwithstanding, they were able to surmount some of the challenges faced in 2021, and entreated all to be accustomed to the new way of life in the Covid-19 era.
He urged them to keep themselves safe, whilst going about duties for the growth and sustenance as individuals, families, clans and community.
“I wish to commend each of us for bearing with me and my Divisional Chiefs and elders, by abiding with all the safety measures spelt out by the President to curb the spread of the virus particularly by not celebrating most of our festivals over the last two years.
“I am hopeful that the situation will normalise to enable us to celebrate our rich festivals as a community.”
Deiga Dei said 2022 was very significant in the life and history of the Peki State as they would join the Evangelical Presbyterian Church Ghana to celebrate its 175th anniversary of the arrival of the Bremen Missionaries on Eweland particularly Peki.
“Let us all be reminded that the work of Lorenz Wolf in Peki and Eweland cannot be swept under the carpet and so, we must all endeavour to partake and play our various roles for its success. With reference to this very anniversary, we are declaring this year as “Year of Return” for all citizens of Peki and people who have benefited from the works of the missionaries.”
