23-Year-old man allegedly murdered at Beposo in the Central Region

Cape Coast, Jan 05, GNA – The Central Regional Police Command has arrested and detained four men, who allegedly murdered a 23-year-old man, Kwaku Nkrumah, at Beposo near Kuntenase in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District.

The suspects, Nana Kofi Amangu, Kwamena Sasan, Kwame Sasan and Akwasi Essuman, are assisting the police in their investigations.

Confirming the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Cape Coast, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Irene Oppong, Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO), said the incident occurred on Monday, January 3 at about 0650 hours.

She said the suspects tied the deceased with a rope and hit him with clubs until he became unconscious and died.

The Police PRO said a team proceeded to the scene on a report made on Tuesday, January 4 at about 0645 hours and found the deceased body lying in a supine position covered with an old mat.

The police uncovered the body, conducted an inspection and discovered that ropes made with mosquito nets stained with blood lying beside the body.

Clubs with blood stains, believed to have been used by the culprits in hitting the deceased, were found scattered around the body.

Further inspection of the body revealed a swollen head and marks of violence all over the body with blood oozing from the ears and nostrils of the deceased.

DSP Oppong said photographs were taken at the scene and the body was later deposited at Our lady of Grace Hospital Mortuary at Breman Asikuma for preservation and autopsy.

The police said the case was under investigation and urged residents to remain calm.
