Hohoe(V/R), Dec. 17, GNA – A women-based group known as Oti Women For NPP, has congratulated Ms Sherifa Sekyere-Tijani on her appointment as the Deputy Managing Director of the State Housing Company Limited (SHC).
The Group says her appointment was in line with President Akufo-Addo’s continuous trust and confidence in the capabilities of women in Ghana.
Madam Millicent Carboo, President of the Group, in a release said they expressed their heartfelt gratitude to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The release said the appointment went the extra mile to confirm the President’s commitment in realising the full course of the Affirmative Action Act, when finally consented to, by Parliament.
It further called on the President to consider more women to occupy vacant positions.
“We cannot hide our sincerest gratitude and excitement on this appointment but like Oliver Twist, we beseech the President to continue having trust in women and consider more of us, in the remaining vacant positions in his government.”
The release said women had over the years demonstrated their resolve in helping governments to bridge the socio-economic gap of Ghana and other competing nations.
It said women shall remain committed to their dutiful call while calling on the appointee to make the Group and the Nkwanta South Constituency proud.
Ms Sekyere-Tijani contested the Nkwanta South Constituency seat in the 2020 general elections on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) but was unsuccessful.
