Begoro (E/R), Dec. 10, GNA – The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Fanteakwa North District, in collaboration with the Fanteakwa North District Assembly (FNDA), has organized Constitution games for some selected schools in the district.
The competition, held at Begoro in the Eastern Region, was to build the students interest in the 1992 Constitution.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview, Ms Cynthia Essel, NCCE Fanteakwa North Director, explained that the competition was used to ensure that the students build a constitutional pyramid to enable them to become responsible citizens in the future.
Ms Essel said the competition would be used to ascertain whether or not civic education, which was the core mandate of the NCCE had been well executed within the Fanteakwa District.
According to the Fanteakwa North NCCE Director, the Constitution games required that the players study vigorously the 1992 Constitution and some Parliamentary Acts, saying the students were supposed to put all that they have learnt into practice.
She noted that citizens must at all-time be conversant with the 1992 Constitution.
Mr Jamani Dramani, Fanteakwa North District Coordinating Director, expressed gratitude to the organizers and the Schools for participating in the Ghana Constitution games.
He advised the students to take their education very seriously, saying the prospects of the country would be entrusted in their hands.
Four Schools qualified for the final competition in Begoro after participating with 16 other schools at the Zonal level.
The Salvation Army JHS in Bontrase at Begoro was crowned winners at the end of the Competition with Church of Christ D/A JHS, Victory Preparatory JHS and A.M.E. Zion school judged the second, third and fourth positions.
