Keta (V/R), Dec. 2, GNA – The 1994 Year Group of the Keta Senior High Technical School (KETASCO) Past Students Association has handed over a GH¢25,000 water project to its alma mater.
The project involves the mounting of two 10,000-litre water tanks at two different locations on the school’s premises.
The Group also broke the ground for the construction of a modern girls bathhouse, estimated to cost GH¢50,000.
Mr Christopher Attivor, the President of the Year Group, speaking at a brief ceremony, said the members resolved to undertake the project to lessen the challenge of water shortage, especially among the girls of the school.
The bathhouse project, to begin this in the first week of December, 2021, is expected to be completed in about six months.
“The pressure on the existing facility for the girls is too much,” Mr Attivor said, and commended the Group members in the Diaspora who initiated the project, which materialised with support from leadership and other members back home.
“This project will provide some relief to the girls,” Mr Attivor said, and called on the School Management to maintain the projects to ensure longevity.
Madam Yvonne Delaporte, the Women’s Organiser of the Year Group, advised all students, especially the girls. to make good use of their time in school and take their studies seriously to excel in their academic pursuits.
“Make KETASCO proud, and become very useful to your family and the country in future,” she said.
Mr William Geraldo De-Lima, Group Organiser, disclosed that a member, Mrs Eseli Normanyo-Nutakor, resident in the USA, had sent $250 to be presented to Francisca Lamini, a student of the school, for excelling in the just-ended National Science and Maths Quiz.
Rev Gilbert Golomeke, Assistant Headmaster, Administration, expressed gratitude to the Group for the projects, saying they would help solve the water crisis of the School and bring some relief to the girls.
Mr Samuel Agbematu, Assistant Headmaster, Academics, KETASCO, said the School, with a population of about 3,700 students, needed more of such support from other past students.
“This will create a more conducive environment for learning to better motivate the students to do more and win more laurels for KETASCO,” he said.
Some female students who spoke to the Ghana News Agency thanked the past students for the water project and prayed that the bathhouse would be completed within the six months period.
