Tikobo(WR), Dec. 12, GNA- The Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro Constituency in the Western Region, Madam Dorcas Afo-Toffey has supported over 30 young women with sewing machines and hairdryers.
The donation was done during the graduation ceremony organized by the Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association and the Ghana National Association of Beauticians at Tikobo No. One in the Jomoro District.
She presented 20 hairdryers and 12 sewing machines to the young women to assist them to start their businesses.
It is in the fulfilment of the MP’s pledge to support apprenticeship training to reduce unemployment in the Jomoro Municipality.
The Jomoro MP commended the graduates for devoting their time to the training and advised them to make good use of the machines to achieve their intended purpose.
“Kindly make good use of the machines and don’t go and put the machines under your beds. I bought these machines for you so that you can use them to start your own businesses and I will plead with you to train others,” she said.
The MP appealed to other young women to venture into an apprenticeship.
She, therefore, pledged to support any willing and able youth to acquire skills.
“I am ever ready to support any youth in Jomoro to learn dressmaking, hairdressing, carpentry and driving, among others and I have been saying it everywhere I go, I have pledged my commitment to reduce unemployment in Jomoro so the youth must take the opportunity,” she stated.
Meanwhile, some of the graduates who spoke to GNA thanked the Jomoro MP for the donation.
