Manso-Nkwanta (Ash), Dec. 24, GNA – The Amansie West District in Ashanti Region has held an end of year get-together and awards ceremony to honour hard-working and dedicated workers in the district.
Four workers, adjudged overall best in their fields of duty, received a citation and unspecified cash prizes.
They were Assistant Superintendent of Immigration (ASI)Nicholas Owusu Agyekum, Best District Security Officer, Madam Rukaya Issah, Best Junior Staff Worker, Mr Alfred Atimba, Best Senior Staff Worker and Mr Alfred Nkansah, Best Assemblymember.
Mr Nii Larteh Ollenu, District Chief Executive (DCE), speaking at the ceremony at Manso-Nkwanta, commended the award winners for distinguishing themselves in their fields of duty.
He indicated that the assembly saw the need to recognize hard-working people to spur up the performance of workers in the coming years.
Mr Ollenu, commenting on the hard work of Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) officers in the area, said they had been loyal, selfless and dedicated towards development in the district.
He said it was, therefore, not surprising that ASI Agyekum, the immediate-past District Immigration Commander, was declared an outstanding DISEC Member.
“By dint of hard work, this man deserves more than a citation and cash prize, he has led so many successful anti-illegal mining operations in the last couple of months,” he explained.
The DCE mentioned that the Assembly was in the process of constructing a two-semi-detached residential apartment and office accommodation for the GIS.
Mr Ollenu pledged to lead and initiate innovative measures to ensure good working conditions for workers in the area.
ASI Mr Agyekum, speaking to the Ghana News Agency after receiving the award, expressed appreciation to the Assembly and urged other members to continue working hard to promote the progress of the district.
