Accra, Nov. 29, GNA – Dr Hussein Iddris Ibrahim, Senior Lecturer, Lakeside University College, on Monday, inaugurated an interim National Executive of the Association of Muslim Societies in Tertiary Institutions, Ghana (MUSTIG).
A statement copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, said the inauguration took place at the second strategic Conference of the Association in Accra to adopt a constitution.
Dr Ibrahim, the statement said, prayed for Allah’s guidance for the new executives to carry out their mandate for the success of the Association.
Professor Imoro Braimah, the Interim President of the Association, promised to advance the activities of the Association.
The Association was established to serve as a mouthpiece and representative, at both national and international levels, of the various Muslim societies, associations or communities at the various campuses of tertiary institutions in Ghana.
Its objectives include enhancing and strengthening unity, collaboration and mentorship among its members and Muslims at large in all aspects of Islamic activities and providing spiritual, academic and moral/social guidance to students members to shape their Islamic identity and wellbeing.
The other executive members are: Prof Mahmoud Mohammed Mahmoud, the Vice President from the University of Ghana; Dr Yunus Dumbe as the Secretary, from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology; Dr Mohammed Mujitaba Dawuda, Organiser, University of Development Studies, Tamale and Dr Halid Babamu Osman, the Financial Secretary, Kumasi Technical University.
The rest are: Mr Zakaria Tanko Musah, the Communication Officer, Ghana Institute of Journalism; Madam Razeena Mohammed Siitah, Women Commissioner and Imam Mustapha Iddrisu, University of Professional Studies, a Representative of the Imam Council.
