Structures of Adetsewui DA Primary School collapses

Adetsewui (VR), Nov. 25, GNA- Mr Kennedy Biedo, the Assembly member of Kpodzivi Electoral area in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta region has called for immediate support to reconstruct a new structure for pupils of Adetsewui DA Primary School.

He made the appeal after the old thatched- roofed wooden structures of the school were raised down by rainstorm on Sunday, November 21, 2021.

He said the situation has caused pupils and teachers to teach and learn under disturbing circumstances.

The affected structures, which contain primary 2,3, and 4 pupils, had led to congestion at the remaining classrooms of the school.

Mr John Akakpo, headteacher of the school, said there was the need for urgent intervention from all stakeholders to bring the situation under control.

However, Mr Kofitsey Martin Nyahe, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Akatsi South when contacted, assured that, his outfit and officials of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) would visit the scene to undertake assessment and to know the next line of action to be taken.

The School has a total population of 160 pupils ranging from Kindergarten to Primary six with a total teaching staff strength of seven.
