Ho, Nov. 27, GNA – Mr Nathaniel Adzotor, the South Dayi District Coordinating Director, has called on Ghanaians and investors to do business with the district, which has a lot of economic potentials in areas of aquaculture and vegetable production.
Mr Adzotor presenting the District Profile in Ho during the Assembly Day as part of activities of the Fifth Volta Trade and Investment Fair, said the hospitality of the people towards prospective businesses investors remained unmatched.
He said the district was blessed with soil texture good for the cultivation of cassava, cashew, oil palm, sweet potato, maize, and soya beans, positioning it as a vantage point for the Planting for Food and Jobs and Export programme.
The district covered a total land area of 358.38 square kilometres with about 20 per cent submerged by the Volta Lake, he said, but that notwithstanding, the Lake provided a thriving fishing ground for the communities
.
Dzemeni; a community, provided the major landing and marketing centre in the district, Mr Adzotor said.
“The Lake also provides opportunities for lake transport and great potentials for water sports, aqua culture and tourism,” he said.
He said the Covid-19 pandemic affected the local economy with regard to business activities, which subsequently affected revenue mobilisation.
Mr Adzotor said the vegetation of the district was a mix of guinea woodland and semi-deciduous forest but much had been lost due to lumbering and bad farming practices, including bush burning.
The Assembly, through its Rural Enterprise programme and Business Advisory Centre, had held a series of technical and management training for small-scale enterprises including those in carpentry, soap making and barbering.
