Sekondi, Nov. 23, GNA – The Orthodox Anglican Church of Ghana has consecrated two new Bishops to help in consolidating church administration, evangelism and general church growth in the country.
The two Bishops; Reverend Canon Dr. John Ernest Koku and Reverend Canon Akologo Dominic Alale Azumah will serve the Eastern, Volta and Northern Diocese of the church.
The Bishops took their oaths of allegiance and promised to stay through to the doctrines of the Orthodox Anglican Church.
The Consecration ceremony conducted by Most Rev Dr. Edward Kwamina Minnah the Archbishop of the Orthodox Anglican Church of Ghana and Bishop of Diocese of SS Peter and Paul the Apostles Sekondi, also climaxed the 15th anniversary of the church in Ghana.
The Archbishop of the Orthodox Anglican Church of Nigeria, The Most Rev Dr Solomon Rotimi Adewumi who preached the sermon, charged the new Bishops to use their new mandate to chart a new path for the expansion of the church in Ghana and to win more souls for Christ .
The new Bishops expressed their readiness to use their mandate for membership drive and growth of the church in Ghana.
The Director for Public Affairs for the church, Mr Kofi Gyestua Ankuma commended the leadership of the church for the consecration of the two new bishops within three years under the Episcopacy of the Archbishop in line with the Church’s resolve for the creation of two new dioceses which give credence to the Archbishop’s charge at a convention held in August this year.
He said, “Evangelism is the Engine of Growth for the Orthodox Anglican Church of Ghana, a Journey of Faith which must be upheld by all”.
The colourful and well attended ceremony saw the Member of Parliament for Binduri Mr. Abdulai Abanga And the Chief Of Binduri all in attendance.
